Dr. Völker

Curriculum Vitae

After graduating from the Canisius College in Berlin, Dr. Völker studied at the Free University of Berlin. He completed academic stays abroad at the Surgery Clinic of Prague/The Czech Republic and at the Mount Sinai School in New York/USA.

After working in the orthopaedic department of the Oskar-Helene Care Centre with Prof. U. Weber, he underwent solid training as a surgeon with Prof. H.D. Clevert at the German Red Cross Hospitals in Berlin (Academic Teaching Hospital of the Charité in Berlin). The extensive training comprised abdominal surgery, vascular surgery, lung surgery, trauma surgery and sports surgery. In 1998 Dr. Völker obtained his specialist title in surgery.

His doctorate at the Charité in Berlin was connected with the changes in the biliary tract surgery. Later he gained an additional qualification in sports medicine.

Being a consultant surgeon, Dr.Völker gained a lot of experience in tissue-conserving endoscopic and minimally invasive operative technology. Since 2003, the cooperation with Prof. M. Faensen, the head of the German hip resurfacing center of the Red Cross Hospitals in Berlin, was intensified.

Trauma surgery increasingly became the main focus of his work until Dr. Völker devoted himself exclusively to modern hip surgery. In November 2008, in Munich, for the first time in Bavaria, Dr. Völker applied a new forward-looking hip joint replacement, where only a part of the diseased femoral head was replaced.

Since October 2009 Dr. Raimund Völker has been the head of the Center for Hip Surgery at the ATOS Private Clinic Munich.
